Ucluelet, offering more than Salmon Fishing...

Enjoy the stunning view of the open Pacific Ocean and Barkley Sound at Amphitrite Point - the Lighthouse (built in 1905). In March and April these are opportunities for excellent views of migrating grey whales. The Wild Pacific Trail, also follows along the coastline from the Lighthouse. This is also a great spot to come and watch some winter storms! Experience the power of the Pacific Ocean pounding the rugged west coast...
The Wild Pacific Trail, offers you breathtaking views of Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands and well as the open Pacific Ocean. Follow the trail along the coastline and through the rainforest surrounded by ancient cedar and spruce trees. There are many opportunities to sit and just soak in your surroundings. The trails are designed to expose you to the miles of quiet sandy shoreline and the amazing forests of "West Coast" trees while protecting the fragile environment.
The Willowbrae Trail will take you to the beach at the southern end of Florencia Bay. The trail ends with a steep decline to the beach and there is a boardwalk with stairs and rails to help you onto the beach. This beach is so secluded and you can walk forever!
The Halfmoon Bay Trail is accessed off the Willowbrae Trail. A fork off to the left takes you down a steep staircase to Halfmoon Bay just south of Florencia Bay. This beach is smaller than Florencia and even more secluded and just as beautiful.
You can spend days walking the beaches between Ucluelet and Tofino…Radar Beach, Long Beach, Combers Beach and Wickaninnish Beach.
Ucluelet is also home to some of the best scuba diving in the world boasting fascinating shipwrecks and a vast array of underwater life in the Barkley Sound area. There are many venues for boat trips to the Broken Group Islands, Whale Watching Tours, Eco Tours, enjoying Hot Springs Cove. You can see Grey whales, Humpback and Killer whales that migrate the coastal waters as well as seals, sea lions and elephant seals. Please ask us about our Afternoon Whale Watching Adventure tours with Pacific King Salmon Fishing Charters, which will include an hour of fishing, touring along the coastline and into the Broken Island Group.
Kayakers, both experienced and novice, can enjoy the challenge of Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands or take a trip by kayak or canoe along the shore of the inner harbor to discover bears, otters, seals and eagles.
